Starting Over

I have recently moved back to the USA after living 12 years abroad. Things have changed a lot here in the last 11 years. I have been working remotely the last 15 years, it seems the work that I get called to interviews, or that answer my resume want you to work in an office 8 hours a day. I have had a few nice offers and have turned them down due to the fact I want to work from home. I have a 4 year old and I cherish every minute we have together. It might sound nuts to some people but I just can not put a price on our time together. I have also been trying for jobs with iOS, I have been a full stack PHP developer for about 12 years. Swift and SwiftUI are things that I really love programing with. I still am doing some piece work here and there with PHP and I own a business in Thailand still. I have always believed that you need to love your work. When it becomes boring, it’s time to change.

I love working at home due to the freedom I have. Wake up early and knock out 4 or 5 hours of work with no distractions, spend your day how ever you want, knock out another 4 or 5 hours or more in the evening. I used to hit it 9–5 every day, 5 or 6 days a week. After my daughter was born I had to change my work habits. I can honestly say that splitting my work up in the day I have became more productive, a bit more creative and am back to enjoying my work.

Starting over is never fun, it is even harder when you’re having a rough time finding work. Being gone for 11 years, most my work is not on line anymore. Things change so much. I know things will be fine, I am a great developer, work hard and hey, its programming, it is not if you can do it, its how long do you want to spend on it!
